The role of Parliament and representative authorities in democratic modernization of the country
Tashkent hosted an international conference on “A new stage of state and public construction in the Republic of Uzbekistan, increasing the role of Parliament and representative authorities in democratic modernization of the country”.
The conference was attended by senators, deputies, employees of local representative authorities, ministries and agencies, representatives of civil society institutions, heads of diplomatic missions in Uzbekistan, international and regional organizations, leading consulting companies.
Chairperson of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Tanzila Narbayeva spoke about main tasks defined in the President's Address to the Parliament, ensuring region’s interests, monitoring the implementation of local reforms and increasing local councils’ activities in this process.
Participants discussed mechanisms for implementing initiatives forwarded by the President of the country in the Address to the Oliy Majlis. The first session of the conference was devoted to the role of Parliament and representative authorities in solving important issues of domestic and foreign policy of the country, exercising parliamentary control over the activities of the executive power.
